About Us
Toroumi — a ceramics workshop for everyday life
Toroumi is a space where ceramics remain calm. We work with clay as it has been done for centuries — at a pace that allows you to feel the material. In our work, every touch, every turn, every pause before firing is important. Products appear gradually: from an indefinite lump to a shape that fits naturally in the palm of your hand.
We choose light clays — they are warm, soft, alive. They have a natural glow even without glaze. Some objects have a matte surface, others have a slight sheen. The texture is always different: somewhat smooth, somewhat rough. This allows you to feel that the product is truly handmade.
Our dishes are not created for show. They work in silence — on the table in the morning, next to bread, in a cup of tea held with both hands. We do not use the same forms — each product has a special line, curve, proportion. Products can be combined - they form a whole, even if they are assembled one by one.
At Toroumi, things are done slowly. We hold the clay in our hands for a long time, carefully observing each change. There is time in every object. This time remains - in the clay, in the shape, in the weight, in the touch.
